205 - G. Somers Clarke and J.T.Micklethwaite, St Mary, Stretton, Staffs., 1895-97.



                     Designed in 1895 by George Somers Clarke (junior) 1841-1926, surveyor
                           to St Paul's Cathedral, and when he retired, carried out by his partner John
                           Thomas Micklethwaite, 1843-1906, surveyor to Westminster Abbey.
                     It cost £30,000 and and was built at the expense of John Gretton of the brewers
                            Bass, Ratcliffe and Gretton.
                     The church is on the corner of Church Road and Hillfield Lane, Stretton,
                            DE13 0HD, 2 miles north of the centre of Burton on Trent.
